Here’s what the Yakkety Yak team is doing, sharing and talking about this January 2020.
Ever wanted to know what goes on behind-the-scenes at the Yakkety Yak office? Trust us, it’s nothing less than a boatload of fun—dad jokes and all. Find out what’s been driving our discussions, inspiring our content and getting us through the daily grind this month with these five staff picks for January 2020.
Cesar Molina, UX/UI Designer — Home Buying 101

Cesar (he/him) relocated to Arizona in November. While we were sad to see him go, we love getting updates on his journey. One of the biggest and most exciting life changes he’s made since his big move is buying his first home.
His new place could use a little TLC, which is what led him to explore a whole new kind of design: home and landscaping. Looking to curate a fresh look and feel for your perfect home? Check out Cesar’s favorite Instagram accounts for everything from interior design to feng-shui: Leon & George, Luxe Interiors + Design® Magazine, Apartment Therapy and Architectural Digest.
Maribel Leddy, Associate Content Strategist — On the Run

Maribel (she/her) signed up for the Byline Bank™ Chicago Spring Half-Marathon on May 17, 2020, taking the first step of many toward completing her longtime resolution to run a marathon. Since it’s the first time she’ll be running more than nine miles at once—13.1 to be exact—she’s already started training for the race. While researching training programs, she discovered the DAREBEE workout database, a free non-profit global fitness collective.
DAREBEE has everything from meal plans and a video exercise library to fitness tests and challenges and more. Her favorite workouts right now include Clean Sweep, Catalyst and Wake Up & Connect. Explore the full database and support this ad- and promotion-free epic fitness resource by donating today.
Morgan Gallas, Associate Content Strategist – Yakkety Yak’s Top Chef

For any cooking fanatics out there, Morgan (she/her), a bonafide soup connoisseur, wants to recommend her favorite YouTube channel. “For those like me who savor a good laugh and a dish they don’t get to taste, I am devoted to the Bon Appétit YouTube channel,” she says.
Morgan’s been watching long enough to understand running jokes and spy other episodes in the making. She recommends starting with some of their classic series: It’s Alive with Brad, From the Test Kitchen, Gourmet Makes and Back-to-Back Chef. Highlight episodes include Pastry Chef Attempts to Make Gourmet Skittles and Gordon Ramsay Challenges Amateur Cook to Keep Up with Him.
Be warned, before you dive in: You may fall in love with Claire from the Bon Appétit test kitchen—and never sleep again, because you’ll be too busy watching videos.
Sean Froelich, Video Producer — Tuning In
Sean (he/him) wants everyone to watch Netflix’s The Witcher. Based on a series of fantasy novels and short stories by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski, the story revolves around the titular “witcher,” Geralt of Rivia (played by Henry Cavill in the Netflix series). Sapkowski’s works have also been adapted into a film, two television series, three video games and a graphic novel series.
Sean loves the deep lore and catchy theme song. He reminds us, “Don’t forget to ‘toss a coin to your witcher.’” Join in on the wild ride by watching it on Netflix.
Andi Summers, Account Director — The Real Big Game Show

When it comes to the Big Game of American Football, Andi (she/her) is really only there for J Lo, the snacks and, of course, the ads. Never one to skip commercials while watching, Andi’s been enjoying the previews filtering in ahead of the main event on February 2, 2020.
From feuding Housewives coming together over Sabra hummus (fingers crossed for a #RHONJ table flip) to Sam Eliot’s smooth-talking rendition of Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road for Doritos™ to the return of “Whassup” from Budweiser®, there’s something for everyone. (However, we’re not totally convinced with the death of Mr. Peanut.) These 30-second spots are truly a sight to behold before, during and after the halftime show, especially considering how much time and effort creatives put in to develop them.
